Kia 2.0L FE Engine
« on: October 16, 2014, 05:01:36 AM »
Hi Guys,

doing a bit of reseach and found that Kia have been making the FE-DOHC under licence for the Sportage. it looks like the same motor and from what wiki has to say it is.

Does anyone know if this would mate up to the standard 5spd box in a hb coupe?

My motors giving up, i have had a change in financial circumstances so looking for the best replacement at minimal cost (<$1000)

Hi,

The FWD Mazda version of this engine is called the FE3. It does bolt up to FE3 gearboxes, and in fact we have a member who has performed that exact conversion! http://www.hbcosmo.com/index.php/topic,132.0.html

so this got me thinking... (bear with me)...

if a mazda 3 motor (A) can bolt up to a nf mx5 rwd gearbox (B), and if the same motor (A) is available in say a ford escape with its gearbox (C), and the ford escape comes in a V6 variant (D) with the same gearbox (C), could it then be assumed that the V6 (D) would bolt up the mx5 gearbox (B)?
