Selling 1983 Mazda Cosmo Limited
« on: September 26, 2012, 09:55:41 AM »
Time has come to sell my money pit.

Build thread here
http://www.hbcosmo.com/index.php/topic,552.0.html

As per the list below I have spent a lot of time and money on this car. It's had an engine rebuild and replacement turbo recently among other things.

Although this car has reliabily been driven to Breda in the Netherlands, and East Yorkshire recently, it has developed an issue. The brakes are somehow pressurising. I believe it to be the servo and I'm in the process of tracking down a replacement, but I have seen another car I want to buy, so will take offers as-is, and you take it away and fix yourself for less monies.

The specs:

Engine:
12a turbo engine
Hurley Rotary mild porting
High compression rotors
Rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago by myself and Oldone's Racing (unofficially, so no warranty implied or given) but it goes mint and starts easy
Good used apex seals, corner seals, and side seals
All new springs, o-rings, and oil control ring bands, gasket set, water seals, inlet manifold, etc
FD exhaust manifold gaskets
New ngk plugs
Good used turbo from Timmy running factory boost for longevity
Oil & antifreeze recently changed after bedding in period

Other:
Factory LSD, turbo box, and 4 wheel vented disc brakes
New stock clutch
Fuel tank professionally cleaned
New windscreen
New tyres (Falken 205/60-15 Z rated)
Rear brake callipers recently professionally rebuilt
Mileage is showing around 108,000km (67K miles)
Tokiko cabin adjustable suspension (soft/hard/auto) – essential in Belgium
Trip computer and other wizardry (haven’t dared touch it)
Fully opening sunroof
MOT and Tax

Bad points:
Hardly any rust, but a few scratches and scuffs consistant with an 80s car
Centre console is how I got it – needs stereo and gauge holders
Some of the push button controls have worn and are hard to read
Sunroof sticks a little - needs a push to wake it up
Gearbox is a little noisy and can jump out of reverse if you don’t get it in right

All in all a good car which goes like stink! £3,500 ono

Well winter is quickly approaching, the car has no road tax, and I haven't fixed the brakes. Now the starter is making a horrible knocking noise! :O

To be fair I haven't pushed the sale or bumped any of the for sale threads. The price is pretty much top wack here for a car like this (one that most people couldn't give a shit about).

Looks like I'm keeping her for now.

Will get the brakes sorted, then look to get some nice wheels and coilovers for next summer.
