Im pretty sure after going thru the EPC2 the pop ups were only an option on the S2 piston coupes not rotary.

Might be wrong but no part numbers listed for S2 rotary coupe  =|

there's two of us on this thread with s2 rotary cars with pop ups

I have a S2 Coupe brochure that ONLY shows cars with popups, but covers both the rotary and piston models.

Car was supposed to leave Japan yesterday, but it could have been delayed. It was pretty safe where it was, I think.. It originally came from Chiba, which is where the oil refinery was on fire. (mind you, the oil refinery was called the Cosmo Oil Refinery or similar, is it a sign?)

It was sitting at Kawasaki port while all of the stuff was going on. Haven't heard anything about stuff going wrong in Tokyo Bay, can only be good news...right?

EDIT: Just made a phone call - car has been delayed. Not sure when it will be here, the ship hasn't showed up yet and I can't get a precise answer on where this ship is. Looks like it will be sitting at Kawasaki port for a little while yet. Fingers crossed that it'll be okay while its there.

Alright - progress again - sort of.

The car is still at Kawasaki port and it will be shipped on the 27th of April.

Hi all

Today, for the first time I laid eyes on my Cosmo. After a month of delays since it arrived in Australia, it got towed back home today.

I fired it up, it seems to run very smoothly. Upon seeing the car, I have decided NOT to change the headlights and the interior. The fixed headlights are kinda cool, and this interior is IMMACULATE.

I just took a quick picture of it, I'd just jump started it and fired it up for the first time.

Hi guys

Just a few updates. I've started getting everything organised for compliance. New seatbelts have been ordered, and its been booked in for a service and a tune and also to get the airconditioner changed over to the new gas.

Here's a few more photos of it, from the day it arrived at my house. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to do very much on it.

Hi guys

Had the aircon changed over to R134a yesterday and today it went in for a service.

The guys at the workshop said that it was all in very good condition. They also noted that this one has an LSD!

Here's a picture of the engine bay, it was steam cleaned today.

Hey guys

Been a long time since I have posted here in this thread.

Since having it registered, I drove it for a bit...and felt like it was performing very poorly, approx. the same power as my daily.

Sure enough, I took it in to a local workshop and said "Seems a bit gutless". They put it on the dyno and it turned out a...MASSIVE 60rwhp.

They fixed the problem, and found that the secondaries in the throttlebody were jammed closed. They fixed it up and it then turned out 108rwhp (which I think should be about normal for it).

After that, for some unknown reason, boost would rise 6psi as normal, but then from 3500rpm onwards it would drop off to only about 5psi, which was annoying and it turned out less power again...

Replaced the viscous fan with a pair of thermos as it was running 100% of the time, even when it was cold. I just drove it around for a bit as it was, got some enjoyment out of it.

Had been thinking about an intercooler for a long time in it, but was told it was a lot of work to do, especially if I wanted to keep the airbox and make it look as factory as possible (both things I wanted to achieve, so as to keep induction noise down, and I didn't want big, shiny piping, and also didn't want a big ugly cooler hanging out the front).

The guys at the workshop suggested water and methanol injection, which at first I wasn't keen on, but I ended up getting it fitted. Had a boost controller put in and got it put on the dyno again, this time turned out 145rwhp at 9psi. They said they had it running at higher boost on the dyno and it was all good, but they backed it off so it was 100% safe. They also noted it picks up 10-15hp if you remove the lid of the airbox, so it must be quite restrictive at 9psi.

That's pretty much where I am at with my Cosmo

Cheers.
Dave

Here's a few pictures of the water and methanol setup.

This is the injection nozzle on the side piece of the plenum.

Then this is the controller and the reservoir, on the left hand side, near the airbox. The reservoir is sort of under and down beside the airbox.

And then the pump for it, is down the bottom underneath the airbox

Its a fairly tidy set up, I think, barely even visible in the car, very easily overlooked.
