It may be one of the better ones out there, but as soon as it gets into the country I have to source stock springs and change the exhaust to have it registered.

At 149 000kms probably up for a rebuild very soon, if it doesn't need one already.

Its just a lot of extra cost, because it'll be $10K NZ for the car, plus getting it to Australia, only to have to modify it when it arrives so I can drive it and have it rebuilt in a few months time. Being an import it will need an engineers certificate in Australia, when they do that they go over it with a fine tooth comb, and who knows what else they may find that needs fixing?

If I get one from Japan (they're still out there, just not many of them) chances are it'll be much lower kms and have current shakken, so it'll be massively easier to get an engineers cert on it.
I'm told that I'll be paying at most 600 000 JPY (about $8000 Australian, just short of $10K NZ) for one that's in good condition with current shakken, its just a matter of waiting for the right one to show up.

I'll have a wanted to buy ad going into Old Timer magazine in the next issue, so hopefully one will show up from there, because the people that own these cars are the sorts of people that read Old Timer and Nostalgic Hero.

I actually like the ride height and the wheels and think its a decent vehicle. I'm not saying its a bad car, I'm just saying that for me, because I'm not in a rush to find one, its not the right car and I'm willing to wait.

I have seen it. Too many kilometres and too untidy, especially for $10k NZ. Engine bay looks to be generally fiddled with, and to get it registered I'd have to get stock spring back into it and remove the exhaust. A NZ warrant of fitness doesn't do anything for you in Australia.

Also - the video of it doing burnouts in a car park that's on youtube - not helping its cause.

that video you seen of it doin "burnouts?" well it was only a lazy first gear coupla o's bro. nuthin major at all. i can assure you this car is not thrashed. it is regularly serviced. and has been super reliable. the only thing fiddled with in the engine bay is i have removed the aircon which i still have kept incase a collector wanted that kinda thing. as it also has the d2 coilovers installed i have kept the factory struts and springs aswell. i still have the original steering wheel too. so pretty much engine bay wise its original as apart from a k&n. body wise it definitly needs a tidy up as its the original paint since 85.and it has been driven most days for the last 25 years or so too i bet. i only drive it on weekends too keep the km's low. but no rust at all and very minimal dents its actually super tidy. hence why i aint done anything to the paint yet. im keen to sell it aye. but if it dont get sold in the next few weeks im gun take it off the road and hack it up. rip the 12at out and 13b bridgy turb. maybe a rollcage etc. good luck with finding wot you want tho bro. its a hard road aye. i think mine is the only one ive ever seen that is the charcoal coulor with burgundy interior and factory manual 12at

What sort of price would you want for it if you pulled the coilovers out to replace it with the stock ones, put the aircon back in and kept the wheels?

Do you still have the badges? I notice in the pictures they've all been pulled off.

Cheers

I can tell you the RESI behind a manual is a different machine to the lazy factory auto.
I did a conversion on my sedan years ago and haven't looked back.
The car is better on fuel and sportier to drive  =D

I thought about making an offer on it for a long time....It was a tough decision to say no to.

I wanted to have Cosmo with 220-250rwhp, quite easily to do with an unopened 12AT. The 13B RESI is less powerful and has less torque than the 12AT and is also harder to get power out of than a 12AT. To get my goal power, it'd need quite a bit of modification. I was told easiest way to do it is to engine swap for a S5 13BT, but then I've gone and destroyed the only thing that's special about the car, a factory 13B RESI Cosmo with manual gearbox.

I'm going to keep looking for one, specifically a 12AT model, but if you wanted to augment your collection with a 13B RESI, Manual Coupe, call Merv :)

Got to agree having owned both 12At and 13B RESI, the factory 12AT is a more efficient engine.
They are nicely responsive stock from the factory.
The thought of a coupe little own a rare one such as you've mentioned is VERY tempting I can tell you.

I'd have bought that 13B one, except I don't have the funds to buy it, a house and a 12AT Cosmo. I think if I bought the 13B I'd be inclined to leave it 100% original and not change anything, but that's not really what I wanted from a Cosmo.
