It may be one of the better ones out there, but as soon as it gets into the country I have to source stock springs and change the exhaust to have it registered.
At 149 000kms probably up for a rebuild very soon, if it doesn't need one already.
Its just a lot of extra cost, because it'll be $10K NZ for the car, plus getting it to Australia, only to have to modify it when it arrives so I can drive it and have it rebuilt in a few months time. Being an import it will need an engineers certificate in Australia, when they do that they go over it with a fine tooth comb, and who knows what else they may find that needs fixing?
If I get one from Japan (they're still out there, just not many of them) chances are it'll be much lower kms and have current shakken, so it'll be massively easier to get an engineers cert on it.
I'm told that I'll be paying at most 600 000 JPY (about $8000 Australian, just short of $10K NZ) for one that's in good condition with current shakken, its just a matter of waiting for the right one to show up.
I'll have a wanted to buy ad going into Old Timer magazine in the next issue, so hopefully one will show up from there, because the people that own these cars are the sorts of people that read Old Timer and Nostalgic Hero.
I actually like the ride height and the wheels and think its a decent vehicle. I'm not saying its a bad car, I'm just saying that for me, because I'm not in a rush to find one, its not the right car and I'm willing to wait.
