Nah you got the wrong Heath, i did work for Jase for a few years but yeah im not the one your thinking of. The ute was the REVS work B2600 dual cab that we did the high flow turbo and S5 13BT clints one was still going last time i saw it.

Pity it was a auto but still did a 13.4 at 100ish mph with the slow auto take off. Felt great on the road chewing up and spiting out dudes in there V8's they were not happy about it at all.

Yep i knew all the boys Gus and so on and thats why i was called beef so people would not get confused as to who they were talking too.

So who are you then

So back to the FE conversion, had a bit more of a look at the manifolds on the FE and it looks like there will be no probs changing ends unlike the F2T manifold. Just a quick one for anyone who might know how close is the efi 929 FE manifold to the standard f2 manifold in bolt pattern as im looking for a easier way to get a rwd manifold onto a F2T donk. I was thinking they might be close as both not being DOHC it might only take small mods to fit.

Im just being slack and cant be stuffed taking one of a car at the wreckers and working it out for myself.

Took a pic of an 8-valve big port manifold for you Heath.

From memory 12-valve head ports aren't perfect circles?

Yeah thanks man, looks like we are just going to mod the factory one. Did manage to find a guy in the US who has done the conversion and he has posted up the complete conversion on his web site with some very helpfull hints on bits that fit from other mazda's to do the job.

Also a guy has done a FE3 turbo conversion into b2200 that made some pretty fat power.

Looks like I might try this conversion myself now! Found an engine which has 247k on the counter but otherwise is looking good...

But Aaron, what do you mean with CAS?
The sump from my 2.0i FE engine will fit?

I'd imagine it would be possible to customize the firewall a lill' bit. Look at this Ford Escort MK1 for example:

Hey Sondre,

Sorry - sump should fit yes. CAS wouldn't be an issue if you went with an aftermarket ECU, as plenty of people have built low-profile CAS's out of MX5 units.

Essentially the standard parts you can't use are:
- FE3 sump (use HB FE one)
- Intake (faces wrong way, fouls bonnet I think)
- Exhaust (fouls mount I think)
- Distributor (too big, fouls firewall)
- Bonnet (I'm pretty sure the head is too tall, you might need to mod bonnet or cut down mounts). There is an awesome FC RX-7 in NZ with a turbo FE3, and you can see the top of the cam gears through the bonnet air scoop hehe.
- Thermostat cover (fouls firewall/gearbox tunnel). It's a common shape though, I found a few alternatives that wouldn't hit it.
- Heater hoses need to be redone also.

So you need to run water pipes from the back of the engine to the radiator.

Hope that helps,
Aaron
