Sondre's FE3 929 HB
« on: July 10, 2008, 11:20:17 PM »
Warning! This project contains big pictures of rust/rot which may seem tough to see for a true 929 enthusiast.

Introduction.
Had looked after this type of car for about a year or two when I found it, standing at work looking thru the webz searching for used cars... Then! There it was :D And only about a 10min drive from my home in the city, surprised I didn't know of it allready. I called the owner and arranged a meeting later on the day. A few days later the car was mine, here's a picture of how it looked down in my driveway:

As you might see the car isn't in the best condition, a lot of work has to be done with it. But lucky me, thats exactly what I wanted!

At the weekend I drove it into my uncle's barn, where it shall stand for quite a while.

The engine bay.

A lousy interior shot:

And the space:

I'm quite lucky with the location, 5 min drive from home so its easy to get to the car.

Plans for the car:

New paint, will stay white but the roof will be black. I might paint the lower part of the car(from the lists and down) black aswell. This isn't decided yet...

New rims, I'm thinking about 17inches. Does 18inches fit without any modifications?

Not sure about the rest, but the car has alot of body work to be done before the paint. Will post pictures of the rust tomorrow, its almost half past one in the night up here now... :)

Could anyone tell me what fits best when it comes to rims? I'd like to have 17inches, but I'd like to have a nice edge on the rims aswell. The ET is 38mm on my current rims, is that standard? Can I use ET25mm? I am not going to use wider tires than 205. :)

I forgot to post this picture, this is photo where I have just polished my trunklid(sp?) with Meguiars PaintCleaner. Turned out quite well, but it also showed something that I wasn't aware off, the trunk had QUITE a few small dents! Luckily they're going down instead of up :)

I have also done some minor work that just has to be done, I removed all the carpets and pulled some new wires for my amplifier. I am missing every single carpet in the trunk so I will take my time and make it all nice and shiny back there! Will post picture tomorrow.

Some small progress on the bodywork:

Rust:

Same hole as above ^^

Thats how it looks at the moment =)

Managed to get quite a lot done today.

Started the day with some painting, the door had some minor rust. This is now long gone.

Door.

The rust had also eaten a little on the body.

I finished the work on my airfilter aswell today, here's a pic... Works so good, makes a nice and loud sound when I press down the throttle!

Started the work on the trunk aswell, made a something to work after with a sheet of cardboard.

Waavaaawivva!!

Fits very good!

Finished product. Going to make it all nice and stretchy with felt! This plate made today is supposed to have the amplifier bolted on. I think it's going to look nice =)

Ey, By the way! Could people please post pics of your trunks please?

Thanks, I have never seen the trunk with it's original carpets. Thus I've gotta make it myself since none of the carpets followed the car. Hopefully it will turn out better than it did when it came from factory :)

Just waitin' for ISA to post pictures of his setup now, so maybe I can get some more insight in whats possible. I don't think I will mount a subwoofer though, extra weight in the back ain't good :)

Hm, I think his plans is to get it as original and nice as possible. Maybe some minor engine mods he says. I'm trying to get as many people into this site as possible. But it seems like its a forgotten car or something :)
